ABOUT ME
A creative background.
I was born to two musician parents: my mother, a Japanese immigrant and singer-songwriter; my father, an American keyboardist. I grew up between cultural identities—immersed in anime culture, raised in the Los Angeles recording industry, and shaped by the complex mix of artistic freedom and high expectations.
Artistry gave me a place to be myself. It also taught me, later on, how much life can revolve around performance, and how easily identity can get confused with the need to be exceptional.
Through therapy, I came to understand that creativity doesn’t have to be tied to performance. It can be relational. There is a transformation that happens when self-expression meets self-compassion.
If you’re navigating identity, creativity, personal challenges or traumas, I am here to support you on your journey and in your transformation.
My Approach
My work is integrative, drawing from EMDR, attachment theory, depth psychology, and multicultural therapy.
Attachment theory offers a lens for understanding how early relationships shape our sense of safety, connection, and emotional regulation. In session, we may explore how past dynamics with caregivers still echo in your current relationships—and work to create new relational experiences that feel more secure, present, and empowering.
Multicultural therapy centers your full context—your cultural identity, intergenerational experiences, and the impact of systemic oppression. Together, we can explore internalized narratives, binary thinking, or inherited emotions like shame and pride that may be shaped by culture but often go unspoken in traditional therapy spaces.
Depth psychology invites us to listen to unconscious processes via dreams, free association, or creative expression. This approach explores deeper meanings to symbols and imagery in your life, which supports more authentic self-expression and personal transformation.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy used to treat PTSD, Complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, and even performance-related blocks. EMDR helps the nervous system reprocess overwhelming experiences, so that past experiences no longer feel so present. I utilize EMDR with a trauma-focused approach.
